On 22nd May, a representative of Catalonia presented a statement on behalf of nrg4SD and the Local Authorities Major Group (LAMG) before the General Assembly (GA) Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Interlocking Climate Solutions

The Ecosystem Marketplace website featured an interesting article on  subnational governments networks and partnerships in its struggle towards low-carbon economies and to reflect on climate solutions.

Nrg4sd is among these relevant initiatives, which have been proving the important contribution of these actors to ensure the Sustainable Development to our people.

On the past 16-17 February, nrg4SD participated at the 14th Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum - GMGSF-14 in Nairobi, Kenya.

United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation

In December 2010, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation (Resolution A/RES/65/154). In reflection of this declaration, the 2013 World Water Day, which will take place on 22 March 2013, also will be dedicated to water cooperation.

High level political representatives from subnational governments around the world are meeting today (16 October) for the Session of Subnational Governments for Biodiversity in the wider context of the Cities for Life: City and Subnational Biodiversity Summit  (15 - 16 October) in Hyderabad, India. The Summit takes place alongside the 11th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP11) on 8 - 19 October.

Welsh Government publish guides advising organisations on how to tackle climate change


The Welsh Government has published templates to help organisations in the private, public and third sectors act on climate change.

The three documents highlight what organisations can gain from addressing the challenges of climate change. Each provides advice on producing business cases and includes case studies of organisations that are already seeing the long-term financial and environmental benefits of taking action.

World Summit launches Declaration of Rio de Janeiro June 2012

On 19 June 2012, on the eve of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development Rio +20,  the host State of Rio de Janeiro, nrg4SD, The Climate Group and Regions-United/FOGAR co-organised the World Summit of Federated States and Regions.

nrg4SD is in the top ten organisations with the highest number of participants* attending Rio +20 out of 1,394 organisations!

*nrg4SD has 229 participants registered for Rio +20 not including members accredited via their national delegations including the Basque Country, Buenos Aires, Catalonia, Flanders, PACA, Quebec, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Wales and Wallonia

Wales launches consultation of the New Sustainable Development Bill

The launch of the consultation paper on the Wales Sustainable Development Bill on 9 May represents the latest announcement amidst a raft of consultations and reviews to consider the various policy and legislative developments being led through the Department for Environment and Sustainable Development, with the planned programme including the Sustainable Development Bill, Environment Bill, Planning Bill, and of course the introduction of the new single environment body.
