Message from nrg4SD Secretary General
26.05.2011
Dear nrg4SD members:
The Government of Quebec, in collaboration with nrg4SD Co-Chairs and Secretariat, is kindly hosting the 2011 General Assembly of nrg4SD, from 29 to 31 August in Quebec City.
I have the pleasure to announce that official invitations from the Government of Quebec to political representatives and other heads of delegation will follow shortly and that a specialised website for the General Assembly can be accessed directly from www.nrg4sd-quebec.org or from the home page of nrg4SD www.nrg4sd.org.
This specialised website allows you to register online for the General Assembly. It also provides a preliminary programme for the event, as well as indications on how to book accommodation at a preferential rate at the Hotel Loews Le Concorde, where the General Assembly is taking place. The deadline for reservations at preferential rate at this hotel is 12 August 2011. The preferential rate is extended from 25 August to 3 September 2011.
From the Government of Quebec and the nrg4SD Secretariat we are working closely to propose a programme of activities that brings together the statutory meetings of the Network – namely the Steering Committee and General Assembly meetings – with technical sessions of the Network’s working groups and a ministerial round table; while leaving room for bilateral interaction and meetings amongst the different delegations. The programme of activities also features a high-Level North-American Forum. Building upon the long-track collaboration initiatives of the host Government of Quebec with other North-American Governments and stakeholders, this Forum will constitute a unique opportunity for nrg4SD delegates to link in with like-minded partners.
The statutory meetings that will take place in Quebec are meant to be a milestone in this new cycle of nrg4SD. The intense ongoing work programme; the exciting perspectives for the years to come in the context of the very interesting international developments of relevance to subnational governments; the consolidation of the Network beyond its 10th Anniversary in 2012, and the continuity of the recently established permanent Secretariat of the Network call upon strategic, constructive and transparent discussions involving all nrg4SD members.
An annotated programme and specific documents for each session of the programme of activities will be made available from the specialised website. In the meanwhile we would like to encourage you to register online and start planning your journeys.
Colleagues in the Government of Quebec, as per the detailed indications in the specialised website, and me remain at your full disposal for any questions or comments.
I look forward to seeing you all in Quebec for what I hope will be interesting and productive days for the Network and its members.
Kindest regards,
Maruxa Cardama
nrg4SD Secretary General
