The Region of Rhône-Alpes, the Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development (nrg4SD) and The °Climate Group (T°CG) co-organised the European Conference of Regions on Climate Action on the 20-21 October 2011 in Lyon, France.

Subnational Governments on the Road to International Climate Change Negotiations

The 34th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) took place on the 6-17 June in Bonn, Germany, and nrg4SD was actively and successfully involved in the sessions.

Biodiversity and Forests

'Biological diversity' means the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems.

Climate change

Successfully addressing the climate change challenge will only be achieved, and sustained, through involvement and commitment at all levels of decision-making. In particular, sub-national authorities (regions, provinces, states or municipalities) have a key role to play in actively incorporating climate change considerations in day-to-day business and in introducing climate-friendly policies, regulations and investment decisions at their level, as a direct outreach to the public
