On January 30th, nrg4SD – Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development, with the support of CDP – Carbon Disclosure Project, will launch the “RegionsAdapt 2016 Report: An assessment of risks and actions” through an open online event.
Reporting data annually through the risks and adaptation section of CDP´s states and regions platform represents one of the three commitments RegionsAdapt members agree to when joining the initiative. Thus, the “RegionsAdapt 2016 Report” is the first to reflect on the level of ambition shown by regional governments in their adaptation strategies.
In total, 27 regional governments (listed below) reported on physical, water supply, and socioeconomic risks, as well as on the adaptation actions to address these issues. The large number of reported risks confirms that climate change is a reality and it’s urgent. Climate change impacts are diverse, but at the same time, territories around the world frequently face similar problems. The report gave the opportunity for participants to share their policies and programs and to encourage other governments to learn from their experiences, exchange and create common knowledge on how to adapt to climate change.
