“The fact that Tulcea County has received a quality award for its coastline proves that it is a special  and unique area. As an authority of the local public administration, we present our constant availability and concern regarding the identification of priorities for the county’s tourist promotion and also regarding the application of the sustainable development principles. In the last years, Tulcea County Council initiated vast actions for the reviving of tourism in Northern Dobrudja, actions materialized through two major components: infrastructure investments and promotion of the area. I am happy to address to you the invitation to visit Tulcea and I am sure that once here, you will be fascinated by the richness and beauty of these places.”

In the wide field of sustainable development, the Tulcea County Council initiated and developed many projects regarding the visibility of the region, accounting for the touristic potential of Tulcea. Tulcea County Council would like to support (within the limits of its competencies) any initiatives related to sustainable development.

 

Key targets and goals: 

The Integrate Management of the Coastal Zones represents a topic of huge interest for Tulcea County Council. One of proposal in “The EU Strategy for Danube region” is about “ the integrate consolidation of the coastal areas management.”  Tulcea County Council submitted to public consultation the Strategy for Danube Delta, which contains a large approach to all the questions raised by this area and aimed at the local community.

  • Conference of the Peripheral Maritime Regions (CRPM) – member since 2001; Mr. Victor TARHON, President of Tulcea County Council was elected full member of the Political Bureau of the organization, starting with October, 2nd, 2008. Tulcea County is also, an active member of the Balkan and Black Sea Regional Commission;
  • Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development – Tulcea County is the only member Region from Romania between regions from 5 continents.
  • The International Association of Francophone Regions (AIRF);
  • The Association of Cross-border Cooperation “ Euroregion Lower Danube” – Tulcea County Council is a foundation member;
  • Working Community of the Danube Regions (ARGE DONAULANDER) – member since 1991;
  • The Cooperative Association “Black Sea Euroregion” -  Tulcea County Council is a foundation member;
