A landmark initiative – the first edition of the Cities and Biodiversity Outlook (CBO), was inaugurated at the Cities for Life Summit. The CBO constitutes the first global assessment of the links between urbanisation, biodiversity and ecosystem services.

High level political representatives from subnational governments around the world are meeting today (16 October) for the Session of Subnational Governments for Biodiversity in the wider context of the Cities for Life: City and Subnational Biodiversity Summit  (15 - 16 October) in Hyderabad, India. The Summit takes place alongside the 11th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP11) on 8 - 19 October.
