10YFP - Regional Discussions on SCP

The 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production patterns (10YFP) is a global framework for action, endorsed by the United Nations Program for Environment (UNEP) with the aim of promoting international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards sustainable consumption and production in both, developed and developing countries.

World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development - subnational contributions

 

The year 2014 marks the end of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development - DESD (2005-2014), and to celebrate its achievements and how this agenda will continue in the future, UNESCO and the Government of Japan are holding the World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development – Learning Today for a Sustainable Future (10-12 November, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan).

15th Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum

On the eve of the first United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), it took place the 15th Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum, at the United Nations Office in Nairobi, Kenya, 21-22 June, 2014.

This edition of the GMGSF was focused on the preparation to UNEA, providing a self-organized space for discussion among the stakeholders and major groups accredited to UNEP. With the support of the UNEP Secretariat, the several organizations gathered in 2-days discussion regarding the main topics of the UNEA agenda.

Open Working Group Focus Areas

In addition to the recently launched Progress Report, OWG Co-Chairs released a set of focus areas that are being considered in the SDGs intergovernmental process. We are glad to notice that Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements is item n° 13.

OWG held its 8th session on 3-7 February, in New York, with the following topics

  • Oceans and seas, forests, biodiversity
  • Promoting equality, including social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment
  • Conflict prevention, post-conflict peace building and the promotion of durable peace, rule of law and governance
