Celebrated since 1974 on June 5 World Environment Day is the United Nations’ most important day to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the environment around the world.
This year’s World Environment Day is “Beat Plastic Pollution”, chosen by the host is India, where official celebrations will take place next 5 of June to highlight the environmental challenges the country is facing and the actions they are taking to tackle these challenges through civic engagement.
#BeatPlasticPollution is a call to action for the world to address one of the great environmental challenges of our time. Back in the 1970s, plastic seem like a great solution, but nowadays it is one of the greatest threats to our oceans, our wildlife and our own health. The theme invites everyone to think of everyday changes that can reduce the heavy burden of plastic.
